World Cruises 2008

There are only a few world cruises every year, which is one of the reasons they are so cherished. Just seven cruise lines offer voyages round the world -- Crystal, Cunard, Holland America, P&O, Princess, Regent Seven Seas, and Silversea. Most only have one world cruise annually, although the Cunard Line has two in 2008.

January 4, 2008: Holland America's 113-day world cruise departs from Fort Lauderdale. It's the 5oth anniversary of their first world cruise.

January 6, 2008: P&O 101-night world cruise departs from Southampton, England. 40 ports in 23 countries.

January 6, 2008: Regent Seven Seas 114-night world cruise departs from San Francisco. The voyage is broken into 7 shorter segments.

January 10, 2008: Princess Cruises 102-day world cruise departs from Fort Lauderdale and ends in England. The relatively small Pacific Princess visits 42 destinations along the way.

January 13, 2008: Cunard Line's QE2 90-day world cruise departs from New York. 31 ports in the Atlantic and Pacific.

January 13, 2008: Cunard Line's new Queen Victoria 99-day world cruise departs from New York. 38 cities.

January 16, 2008: Silversea 110-day world cruise departs from Fort Lauderdale. Smaller ship can slip into less-visited ports.

January 19, 2008: Crystal Cruises' 108-day world cruise departs from Los Angeles and ends in London. 45 ports of call.
